Be it a limitation of the mind, the heart, or reality the limitation is the beginning. There is always something to push against or wriggle through, something to transform. Ms. Lowan’s paintings compose a new view on life. Color is chosen for its ability to transfuse the idea with a new perception. Layer by layer, each painting is revealed and exposes a unique consciousness. Acrylic paint ais used for its celerity, leaving little time for change thus producing an immediate reaction to the environment. Very little of each piece is a conscious decision.
“I take my everyday and what I know and use that to create resonant images and connections to the macrocosm.“ The work is primitive in style yet elegant and flowing. Like life no matter how hard we try to plan and organize it, it is always a surprise. Accepting that surprise brings freedom, understanding and joy with each splash of paint and each completed painting.
